Fitness Studio Owner Charged With Sex Assault, Norwalk Police Say

A 66-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his martial arts and fitness studio was charged on an active warrant, Norwalk Police announced.

Jose “Calasanz” Martinez, of Norwalk, surrendered on an active warrant for fourth-degree sexual assault on Friday, Aug. 16.

A victim reported to police that she was assaulted on July 27 while exercising at the Calasanz Martial Arts and Fitness Studio on Westport Ave.

The victim stated that while doing core strengthening at his studio, Martinez sexually assaulted her and attempted to have intercourse with her, police said.

Police then obtained an arrest warrant for Martinez. He is held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, Aug. 27.
