Charges have been dismissed against John V. Mara, 22, who was then a student at Fairfield University and who lives in Mount Kisco, N.Y., said attorney William Dow of New Haven. Mara's uncle is Giants' owner John Mara.
“From the very beginning, Jack Mara swore he was innocent," Dow said in a statement. "He did not assault the complainant. The evidence has proven his innocence.
“We are gratified that the State has agreed and that the charges are dismissed.
“Jack is an outstanding young man and has a bright future. He and his family intend to move on from this unfortunate incident.”
Marra had been arrested in February in connection with a fight at a party on New Year's Eve on Fairfield Beach Road involving Fairfield University students.
A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck in the head with a glass bottle, police said at the time.
Mara had been charged with first-degree assault, a felony, and a breach of the peace, a misdemeanor.
