NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk resident Maria R. Florio died on Sunday, Jan. 24. She was 101.
Born in Italy, Florio is survived by children Rosa Morgera, John Florio, Philip Florio, Salvatore Florio and Joseph Florio; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Clorinda; son Giacomo; grandchildren Ernesto Florio and Maria Florio; husband Ernesto Florio; and parents Giovanni Mattera and Clorinda DiMeglio Mattera.
Visiting hours will be from from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., in Norwalk. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, at St. Philip Church, in Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, also in Norwalk.
