NORWALK, Conn. -- John J. Patchen, of Norwalk, died Friday, Dec. 18, at Norwalk Hospital after a long illness. He was 78.
Patchen was the husband for 56 years of Marie (Antoinette) Passarelli Patchen.
He was born in Norwalk on Jan. 16, 1937, the son of James J. Patchen Sr. and Elvira Tuozzola Patchen, and has lived there all of his life.
Patchen was a graduate of Fairfield Prep, Class of 1955, and Fairfield University, Class of 1959.
He was a self-employed independent title examiner. Patchen enjoyed sports, reading, music, animals and his family.
In addition to his wife, Patchen is survived by his children, Joseph J. Patchen, of Milford and Donna M. Patchen, of Norwalk; brother, James Patchen (Sherry), of Southbury; sister, Shirley Taylor, of Fairfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Church, 1 Father Conlon Place, Norwalk, with entombment at St. John Cemetery.
