Frances Olga Wistrand Ferris, 91, Ossining Resident

OSSINING, N.Y. – Frances Olga Wistrand Ferris, of Ossining, died Saturday, July 23 at Phelps Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Mount Kisco, the daughter of the late Ernst and Catherine (Casey) Wistrand. She was raised in White Plains and during World War II she was a “Rosie the Riveter” at Eastern Aircraft in North Tarrytown. She married Raymond Ferris May 12, 1947, in White Plains. She then moved to Ossining with her family in 1955. She was a retired supervisor with the state Division of Unemployment in White Plains for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her five children, Melanie, (Roger) Rowe, Sharon (Jack) Powers, Raymond (Lorraine) Jr., Jeffrey and Kimberly Ferris; five grandchildren, Scott and Craig Rowe, Brian and Erica Ferris, and Howard Powers; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, on Sept. 8, 1989; and her siblings, John Wistrand and Ann Dixon.
