NORWALK, Conn. – Anell DeVaughn, 87, of Norwalk, died Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Westport Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Red Spring, N.C. to the late James Covington and Ella Mae Cooper, DeVaughn had been a resident of Norwalk the past four years and prior to that she was a resident of Philadelphia most of her life.
She was a foster grandparent for many years. Her spiritual needs were met as a disciple of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where she was the mother of the church.
She is survived by a sister, Geneva Wrentz of Norwalk, and several nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon Saturday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Rockland Road, Norwalk, with Pastor Kenneth DuBose officiating. Interment will be private.
