A Wilton woman with three previous arrests for driving under the influence began to cry after she was stopped for a motor vehicle violation early Tuesday, Norwalk police said. "I just want to go home," they quoted Margaret Fitzpatrick as saying.
She ran a red light at Main Avenue and Broad Street at about 12:20 a.m. A police officer was two cars behind her. He turned on his lights and stopped her in front of a gas station.
Police say Fitzpatrick, 52, had red, glassy eyes. When the officer walked up, she looked at him, did not respond and then began to cry.
She smelled of alcohol, according to the police report. She apologized for running the red light and said she had had two drinks. She agreed to a field sobriety test and failed. Police checked her history: She had been arrested on DUI charges in November 2005, September 2006 and March 2007. Police say she had a blood alcohol level of 1.97. She was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, and bond was set at $750. Her 2000 BMW was towed.

Tools were reported stolen Monday from a house under renovation. Workers went to the Taylor Avenue residence at 8:30 a.m. Monday and found a broken window in the rear of the house. A Dewalt mirror saw worth $600, a Dewalt table saw worth $600, two Ryobi hand drills worth $200 each, two Porter-Cable electric air compressors worth $200 each, a Porter-Cable frame guns worth $200 and a Makita rotary hammer worth $200 were missing. The items were last seen at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Tools were reported stolen Sunday by an electrician at 36 Sniffen St., where a social club is being remodeled into a church. The building is open with the construction work ongoing. A Porter-Cable table saw, two kerosene heaters and a Porter-Cable air compressor were missing. They were last seen Saturday.
A car was reported stolen from the Elmcrest Terrace parking lot Monday. The owner said she had left it there at 6:30 a.m., and it was gone when she returned at 4:45 p.m. It was locked. Police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for the 2003 Toyota Corolla.
