NORWALK, Conn. – While some neighborhoods in Norwalk remain without power Thursday, most of Norwalk’s businesses and organizations are open as the city returns to normal following Hurricane Sandy.
Below is a list of several entities that are open in the city:
• City Hall on East Avenue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now on South Main Street from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for meals (Breakfast at 10 a.m.; Lunch at 1 p.m.; and Dinner at 6 p.m.)
• Temporary shelter at Brien McMahon High School will be open again Thursday night. Hot dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Most of the city dining and food establishments. Norwalk Health Department inspectors have visited more than 200 establishments to ensure their safety and most are open.
• Norwalk YMCA on West Avenue for showers. Must bring your own towel, sign in and sign a liability waiver. Monday-Friday: 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Norwalk Public Library on Belden Avenue from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. for small device charging and Internet use on the library’s computers (no Wi-Fi).
• South Norwalk Public Library on Washington Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for small device charging, internet use and Wi-Fi.
• Norwalk Police Department (for small device charging) on Monroe Street during business hours.
• Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk on North Water Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for free small device charging, Wi-Fi and access to gift and coffee shop .
• Stepping Stones Museum for Children on West Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The following are some of the places closed in and around Norwalk:
• Norwalk Public Schools (Also closed Friday).
• Cranbury and Veterans Memorial parks, and Calf Pasture Beach, are closed until further notice.
• Virtually all of the stores in the shopping district on Main Street in Westport.
