Detectives responded to the Agues Achim Cemetery in Hartford at Waverly Street and Tower Avenue this week, where there was a report of a grave from the 1950s that was dug up, police said. It is unclear when the remains were taken, though it may have happened on, or around Halloween.

According to NBC CT, Tommy Valentin, who works as a gravedigger at the cemetery, said that they were checking to see if any tombstones were knocked down, and when they found the dug-up grave, it was filled with water and two dead chickens.

The identity of who the grave belonged to has not been released.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Division. Check Daily Voice for updates as more information is released.
