Norwalk Shooting Victims Identified

NORWALK, Conn. – Two Bridgeport residents have been identified as the couple found shot to death Saturday morning on Avenue B. They are Iroquois Alston, 27, and Rickita Smalls, 22, police say. Smalls was seven days shy of her 23rd birthday.

Both died of gunshot wounds in a car parked on Avenue B. Police have not said whether it was a double homicide or a murder-suicide. No other details have been released.

Alston was a felon with a record at Stamford Superior Court. On Jan 7, 2005, he was convicted of "sale of certain illegal drugs" and first-degree violation of probation/failure to appear. He was sentenced to seven years in jail.

On Dec. 21, 2001, he was convicted of second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and "sale of hallucinogenic/narcotic." He was also guilty of a misdemeanor, use of a motor vehicle without permission. He was sentenced to five years in jail. That sentence was suspended after two years, and he was given three years of probation.

Alston also had a record in Bridgeport. On March 29, 2004, he was convicted of sixth-degree larceny and disorderly conduct. His discharge was unconditional.

Alston had a record in Fairfield: On Oct. 3, 2004, he was convicted of first-degree robbery, deadly weapon, criminal possession of a firearm/defensive weapon and first-degree larceny. He was sentenced to eight years in jail.

He had no record in Norwalk.

The Daily Norwalk checked the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch website for a record for Smalls in Norwalk, Stamford, Fairfield and Bridgeport and did not find a listing.

A resident of the neighborhood said Saturday that Smalls had been at her home a week before she was killed.
