Teanna Escourse, 16, victim of a New Years Eve hit-and-run, remains in critical condition at Norwalk Hospital, according to her mother. "She looks like she's sleeping," said Jillian Escourse. "They don't give her anything at all to make her sleep, but she doesn't wake up. She moves her hands or she moves her eyes, but that's about it."
Teanna and her sister Brianna went to a New Years Eve party and left shortly after midnight to walk home. The girls became separated, and Teanna was later found unconscious in front of 100 Taylor Ave., face up in the snow.
Police believe the car that struck Teanna is dark, maybe green, maybe black. It may have received damage to its right front turn signal and possibly the right headlight. The incident happened on Taylor Avenue near the I-95 overpass between midnight and 12:57 a.m. Jan. 1. Anyone with information can submit a tip online or call (203) 854-3011.
Teanna is the manager of the boys' basketball team at Brien McMahon High School. "She loved sports, she loved cheerleading, she loved music," Escourse said. "She's very quiet, she's not loud. She don't bother nobody."
