NORWALK, Conn. -- Kick off your holiday season when the Norwalk Historical Society unwrap its new gift to the city -- the new Norwalk Historical Society Museum during a Holiday Open House on Saturday, Dec. 5.
Visitors will be able to view the Museum's two new exhibits, the newly renovated upcoming exhibit spaces, shop for unique gifts in the new gift shop, meet Mrs. Claus, craft holiday decorations and enjoy refreshments donated by Sweet Sabrina's Cake Shop. In addition, the Society has partnered with the local non-profit, Person-to-Person, and will be holding a food drive of non-perishable food items at the event as well.
Held from noon to 4 p.m., the free event will take place at 141 East Ave. in Norwalk. The Museum is located next to the Norwalk Health Department, in the red brick house with blue double front doors.
Visitors will get to experience the history of Norwalk through Norwalk Collects: Celebrating Four Historic Collections, curated by Elizabeth Pratt Fox, and Norwalk: Portrait of Diversity, with photography by Tony Velez.
The society's new gift shop will also be open for the first time to the general public. Shop local and purchase one-of-a-kind, hand- crafted items by Fairfield County artists, including Another Bright Idea, Pat Atkin, Britt Bair, Betty Ball, Butterfly Rouge, D54 Studio, Erin Dolan Art Studio, Elemental Images, Hanneke Goedkoop, Kiki & Pooky Ltd., Komfort Zone, Made in Bridgeport, Nod Hill Soap, Peaceful Places Photo, Karen Ponelli, Southern Yankee, T Party Antiques and Torn Edges. Norwalk-themed gifts, books, children's toys and games will also be for sale.
