NORWALK, Conn. Hundreds of "Batman" fans attending a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" early Friday at the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium's IMAX theater were seemingly unaware of the mass shooting at a midnight screening in Colorado. The shooting in Aurora, Colo., happened just minutes before the Norwalk showing let out at 2:40 a.m. Colorado is two hours behind Eastern Daylight Time.
Hundreds of fans filled the Aquarium's IMAX theater Friday for the latest installment in the "Batman" franchise. No one in the crowd arrived in costume, but fans erupted into applause at the beginning and end of the 2-hour and 44-minute epic conclusion to director Christopher Nolan's tale of the Caped Crusader.
Theatergoers were picking out choice seats as soon as 11 p.m. when the theater opened its doors, a full hour before the movie began. Several said they had bought tickets a week or more in advance of the midnight screening.
