NORWALK, Conn. – Connecticut Light & Power is reporting Thursday afternoon that, as of 4:15 p.m.,14 percent of its customers in Norwalk are without power.
The percentage represents more than 4,300 businesses and households, and appears to be concentrated, in part, along the East Avenue and Strawberry Hill Avenue corridors north of I-95. Norwalk City Hall is one of the locations without power.
By 5:15 p.m., the percentage without power was down to 10 percent, or just over 3,200.
Earlier Thursday, CL&P was reporting that only one of its customers in Norwalk was without power.
The cause of the afternoon outage was two major circuits failing in Norwalk, and city officials said it might be until after 7 p.m. before all power is restored. The failure does not appear to be weather related, because temperatures have risen throughout Thursday and winds have died down following Wednesday’s nor’easter.
