All told, the children read for 44,100 minutes since the program began on June 29 with a show called “Heroes and Their Stories,” before concluding on Aug. 14 with a science-based performance by Sciencetellers at the Kent Public Library, 17 Sybils Crossing, Carmel.

Among the summer activities were an art- and literature-based program in partnership with Arts on the Lake, making super hero costumes in preparation for the Super Hero Training Camp, and learning how to play guitar, as well as story times and reading to therapy dogs. The grand prize at the Summer Reading finale was a remote controlled inflatable.
