David Armstrong, 28, of Fairfield, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 7, and charged with possession of a controlled substance, attempting to sell a narcotic and selling a controlled substance, said Fairfield Police Capt. Robert Kalamaras.
According to Kalamaras, on Wednesday, Jan. 22, police responded to Roselle Street to investigate a heroin overdose death.
During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to collect several items of evidence that helped to identify Armstrong as a suspect, he added.
At the time of his arrest, Armstrong was in possession of several wax folds of a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for Fentanyl, a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, and several hundred in cash, Kalamaras said.
It was later determined that Armstrong had a valid CT pistol permit with three firearms registered to him. One of the firearms was seized at the time of the arrest, and the other two were later turned over to police.
Armstrong, who is being held on a $20,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Friday, Feb. 21.
