A fourth arrest has been made in the case of a 15-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted last month in Norwalk by several teenage boys. Monday, police charged a 16-year-old boy with intimidating a witness and threatening.
Lt. Ashley Gonzalez, youth bureau commander, said the juvenile was already under investigation for possible involvement in the sexual assault. He said the boy had contacted the victim's family a number of times over social networking websites, and each time the "harassment and threats escalated to indicate and threaten the use of physical force."
The victim was admitted to Norwalk Hospital Dec. 28 because she was heavily intoxicated. When she was being examined, it was discovered she had been sexually assaulted.
Gonzalez said "a few" boys assaulted the girl earlier that day at a private residence, where there had been underage drinking. Under Connecticut law, a 15-year-old girl cannot give consent to have sex. There is also a law against having sex with someone who is inebriated and unable to make a decision.
Francisco Sanchez, 17, and a 16-year-old and 14-year-old boy were charged with first-degree sexual assault, first-degree conspiracy to commit sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. Sanchez's bond was set at $250,000.
Gonzalez said there is the possibility of more arrests in the case.
