NORWALK, Conn. -- The Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association hosts its annual Fairfield County Walk to End Alzheimer’s from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.
The Alzheimer’s Association is expecting record-breaking numbers of participants during this year's event. So far, they have received registration of 206 teams including 1,200 walkers who have raised $270,000 to date.
“I am so inspired by all of the support from our volunteers, sponsors and walkers. It is thanks to this community that we are well on our way to surpassing our goal of $358,000.” said Lexi Rodriguez Kennedy, special events director of the Fairfield County, Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter.
In addition to the walk, events will include family friendly activities including live music by Billy Genuario; entertainment provided by Dance Pointe and Norwalk and Stamford High Schools’ cheerleading squads; face painting; food and beverages provided by Dunkin' Donuts and David’s Tea of Westport.
Currently, there are 73,000 individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease in Connecticut.
Participants of all ages are invited to register for free online at alz.org/walk or by phone at 860.828.2828 . For those who cannot attend the Walk, donations will be accepted through Dec. 15 and can be made online at alz.org/walk.
