Oh Deer! Now They're Swimming in the Pool

Deer are a nuisance because they eat our plants and flowers, right? Now add jumping into swimming pools to that list.

Norwalk resident Audra Good woke up last Wednesday to find a deer taking a swim in her pool. As is her routine, she let her dog, a large Goldendoodle named Bella, outside in the morning. "Bella started barking like crazy," Good recalls. "I went to tell her to stop barking and saw the deer--I was so unsure what to do." She grabbed her camera and told her three kids to come and see. "They were fascinated, of course."

"The deer kept trying to climb out but couldn't get enough leverage and would get tired and swim around," she says. Good says that while she was looking for rope, the deer finally managed to vault herself out and escape the pool area through the fence, which she managed to squeeze through.

"The rungs of our fence are dented in two places, so that must be how she got in, too, or else she jumped the fence and landed in the pool," says Good. "I have no idea how long she had been in there. Now I know who is eating all of my flowers! We just have to hope the pool liner is okay."

Good posted the video to her Facebook page and got dozens of comments. Many friends told her that she should send the film to “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” The friends said their kids played the video over and over, laughing each time.
