Museum Chairman of the Board Patsy Brescia and Executive Director Susan Gilgore received the grant donation Thursday from Xerox Foundation President Mark Conlin in the museum’s library.
"As a Norwalk neighbor, we are proud and honored to lend our support to the Education Programs again in 2016,” Conlin said. “Xerox and the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion share a passion for culture and historic preservation. Local history is an important part of what makes our country special."
The grant will provide the necessary support to ensure the continued growth and success of the mansion’s diverse educational offerings for Norwalk residents and museum visitors from throughout the tri-state area.
“We are very grateful to The Xerox Foundation for supporting our 2016 programs and for helping us in our mission of fostering education and culture for people of all ages,” Brescia said.
Xerox’s support will help sponsor an array of programs, including the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum/Ernest Hemingway/Young Writers’ Competition, the exhibition, "Demolish or Preserve: The 1960s at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion," lectures by renowned speakers and cherished community events, such as the ice cream social and the old-fashioned flea market.
“The board of trustees and I are truly grateful for The Xerox Foundation’s very generous 2016 grant donation,” Gilgore said. “This contribution comes at a critical time and will have a major impact on the museum’s 50th Anniversary programs and the mansion’s mission as a vibrant and vital resource for American history, education, and culture for all our communities.”
Xerox has been a major supporter of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum since 2010 and continues to be one of the leading corporate partners in the museum’s programs.
