Daniel Hall, who grew up in Norwalk and Westport, was recently cast as Scotty Grainger in the popular Emmy Award-winning soap opera.

His character was first introduced to audiences in 2005, played by actor Blair Redford, but after about six episodes Grainer was sent to boarding school. Now, he returns as a journalist who recently endured “traumatic events” before coming back home. (Cue the dramatic soap opera music.)

In real life Hall, after attending Staples High School, he went on to earn his BFA in Theatre at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation, he moved to Manhattan, where he was a recurring character on the CBS daytime drama, "Guiding Light."

He's also been on a string of TV shows, including "Law and Order SVU," "Mad Men," "Graceland,", "Rizzoli and Isles" and "Quarry."
