The Norwalk resident manages all social media and celebrity and brand partnerships for LoveSac which he said makes "the most comfortable couches and beanbags in the entire world."

At the same time, he blogs and takes photos for CTEatsOut which affords him the ability to hit an abundance of Fairfield County restaurants. He also has a big following on his Instagram page @heybigmike.

Majlak said 2014 was an explosive year for him in terms of food blogging. "That was the advent of the whole 'if you didn’t post your food, did you even eat' kind of thing,'" he said.

"I was already taking a ton of photos and so I started snapping what I ate and it turned into being in the right place at the right time."

It helped, too, that Fairfield County's food scene has been exploding in a good way. "There are a bunch of insanely talented NYC transplants, and the vibe here is super fun," said Majlak. "Obviously there’s a ton of discretionary money here, too, and I think that really drives restauranteurs to want to start new endeavors here."

Among his favorite eateries:

  • Hoodo Brown, Ridgefield: "I think what Cody and Bob are doing has to be raved about. Their brisket, sausage, and beer selection is second to none and the vibe there is amazing. I feel like I’m back in Austin."
  • The Cottage (the old Le Farm), Westport: "The menu here may be one of the more impressive I’ve seen.I had a duck fried rice dish there that changed my outlook on life."
  • Match, Norwalk: 'You have to mention Matt Storch when you talk Fairfield County. Match continues to be my go-to date spot, and obviously I’m eating the carpetbaggers [Norwalk oysters], love the seared tuna, and the bacon and mozzarella appetizer."
  • Fortina, Stamford: "The boys at Fortina are doing an insanely good job branding themselves in terms of upscale pizza and partying. Here, you'll find me eating the tenderoni pizza and mozzarella sticks."

He also loves the value one can find in the county, as well as the various atmospheres each restaurant affords. Other top picks include the happy hour at Washington Prime in SoNo and the daily deals you can find with a simple Google swipe.

"I think SoNo is the next Stamford," he said. "It's under this huge city-wide renovation and everything is so close you can hit 15 places all in walking distance of each other."
