Greenwich Expert Offers Backyard Birders Tips In Rowayton Talk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Katie Blake, a Greenwich-based bird friendly communities coordinator for Audubon Connecticut, addressed a capacity crowd at the Rowayton Community Center for a free public lecture on attracting songbirds to the backyard.

The Norwalk Tree Alliance and the Sixth Taxing District in Norwalk were other sponsors of the evening.

Blake told attendees that a key to creating a bird-friendly environment is installing native plants of wildlife values such as black cherry trees, shadbush and viburnums.
