Classic Night Reading - "Arsenic and Old Lace": 8:00 p.m. A staged reading directed by Katie Sparer, of the classic 1939 play “Arsenic and Old Lace” by Joseph Kesselring which ran on Broadway from 1941 to 1944, a total of 1444 performances and was a legendary hit. Timeless Tales Story Time: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A weekly story time for children ages 3 to 5, full of classic, contemporary and interactive stories, music, finger plays and movement. Props are used to help children relate to and sit through longer stories. This is a drop-in program. Free. South Norwalk Branch Library, 10 Washington Street, Norwalk.

Little Laxers - Beginner Lacrosse Clinics for 3.5 to 7 Years Old : 4:00 p.m. A program for player ages 3.5 to 5 year and 6 to 7 year old, interested in learning basic lacrosse skills, developing their social skills and having fun. One coach to every 7 players per class, $187.25 for 7 week session, $214 for 8 week session (SFH Membership Required). Sono Field House, 365 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, Norwalk.

Saturday, Sept. 28

The Hurried Child - Book & A Movie: 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. David Elkind, Professor Emeritus of Child Development at Tufts University will discuss the book “The Hurried Child” which calls attention to the dangers of hurrying children and overwhelming them with pressures and expectations that can lead to a wide range of crises later in their lives. Slammer Tennis World Fall tennis lessons: 3:00 p.m. Learn basics of tennis as  lessons cover the basic strokes (groundstrokes, volleys, overheads and serves) and  also incorporate some light exercises and footwork drills to build stamina and agility. Between The Libraries 5k Run: 9:00 a.m. A fundraiser event for  flat 5K race from the Main Library down the Norwalk River Valley Trail, through Matthews Park looping through South Norwalk to the South Norwalk Branch Library and back. All proceeds will go towards increasing Family Programming at the library. Fees varies. Norwalk Public Library, 1 Belden Ave.
