Rowayton Arts Center Seeks Artists To Enter 'Focus Under Forty' Exhibit

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Rowayton Arts Center in Norwalk has put out an open call for artists in the region to display their works at its next exhibition, dubbed “Focus Under Forty."

The exhibition runs from June 5 to 26. The opening reception, which is free and open to the public, is Sunday, June 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. 

Enter a painting, sculpture or installation. There is still time to enter, with an open call for artists ages 18 to 39. 

Two works may be submitted in any medium and on any theme. Best in Show wins a prize of $250. Students (18 to 20 years old) are eligible for a reduced entry fee. 

Entries will be accepted Wednesday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The exhibit chairman is Dan Long, co-chair is Michael Brennecke and the judge is Mark Macrides. 

For nearly 60 years, the Rowayton Arts Center has been a gallery where regional artists may exhibit and sell their art as well as a venue for art workshops and classes. The RAC Art School offers classes to children and adults at all levels. 

The RAC Gallery and Art School are located on the banks of the Five Mile River in Rowayton, at 145 Rowayton Ave. in Norwalk. Gallery hours are Tuesdays to Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
