NORWALK, Conn. -- You can enjoy brunch with members of the Norwalk Police Department while learning different programs for seniors on Wednesday, April 20 at the Norwalk Senior Center.

Sergeant Sofia Gulino will present on abuse, scams, and preventing fraud. She will also present on three programs available to seniors in Norwalk such as Yellow Dot, Life Pack, and Project Lifesaver.

Project Lifesaver assists first responders in locating adults and children who have wandered off due to conditions such as Alzheimer's, Autism, a traumatic brain injury or Dementia. It's as easy as putting on a watch, and it can be worn on either the wrist or on a client’s ankle. It is offered a low or no cost.

Life Pack contains your medical history, physicians' names, emergency contact numbers, allergies, medications and other emergency information. It is placed in the freezer, with a magnet on the freezer door and a sticker on the outside door. In the event of an emergency, the responder will see the sticker, collect the “Life Pack” and take it with the senior to the emergency room at the hospital, if that is where the senior is going.

The Yellow Dot Program is designed to help save lives. A round yellow sticker on your car window alerts first responders that lifesaving information about you is in your car’s glove compartment.

The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sign up with the reception desk or call 203-847-3115 if you plan on attending. Anyone is welcome to attend.

If you have any questions about this event, contact Tania Parrent Senior Umbrella 203-847-2830. For a ride to the event please call 203-847-3115 ext. 107.
