Non-perishable food items can be placed in labeled boxes through Monday, July 18 in the main lobbies of the East Campus and West Campus. Donations will be distributed to NCC’s Food Pantry and Open Door Shelter in Norwalk.
NCC will be screening "The Long Walk of Nelson Mandela," July 18 at 1 p.m. The 2011 documentary tells the story of the man behind the myth, probing Mandela’s character, leadership and life’s method through intimate recollections with friends, political allies, adversaries, and his fellow prisoners and jailers on Robben Island.
The screening is free and open to the public, with a request that attendees bring two non-perishable food items to the screening. The screening will be held on East Campus in the Gen Re Forum.
Following the documentary, the college is hosting a community conversation with NCC's AmeriCorps Vista Shannon McAvoy Hanley on the topic of food security and exploring how this issue touches the NCC community.
Anyone wishing to attend the community conversation should email Stefanie Ortiz at SOrtiz@norwalk.edu.
