NFL Player Silas Redd Returns To Norwalk For Carver Center Event

NORWALK, Conn. -- Silas Redd, running back for the Washington Redskins, will host his inaugural Threads for the City clothing drive and swap at the George Washington Carver Community Center In Norwalk on Saturday from noon-5 p.m.

Redd has accumulated an impressive collection of vintage jerseys, memorabilia, hats, sweatshirts and ‘90s tracksuits. He is a self-proclaimed “certified thriftier.”

Redd shares photos of his finds on his social media channels. His collection includes everything from an Olympic pullover to an old-school Arizona Coyotes jersey to band T-shirts and even Coogi sweaters.

Redd shared his thoughts on Threads for the City in the following quote taken from the Redskins' official website: “Words can't express how happy I am that this is finally in motion. Love my city and love my state! Everyone in the 203, 860, 914 and the whole tristate come show love to my first annual clothing drive and swap for the city! You can donate clothing or anyone that is less fortunate can come pick up items for FREE! Much love and PEACE!”

Threads for the City coincides with the Carver Foundation of Norwalk's annual College Bootcamp at the Carver Community Center. This is a sleepover event in the Carver Community Center gym for boys from 10 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.

Redd will share his experiences with Carver boys assembling later in the day on Saturday for Carver’s annual College Bootcamp. He will also talk with them about their future college careers.

Carver’s Youth Development Program is conducted in the Carver Community Center, in Norwalk’s four middle and two high schools, and in Norwalk's Side By Side Charter School.

Redd was born in Norwalk on March 1, 1992. He played college football at USC and at Penn State. The Redskins signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
