Mathis will speak to the congregation to highlight the alignment of Liberation Program’s mission with Grace Baptist Church’s mantra, “S.O.U. L. Purpose: to Seek the Lost, to Optimize gifts and talents, to Utilize those gifts and talents and to Love God and each other.”
Liberation Programs is a private, nonprofit substance abuse prevention and treatment organization serving more than 2,000 individuals and families annually throughout lower Fairfield County since 1971.
Mathis joined Liberation Programs in 2006 as president and chief executive officer. He has 28 years of experience in non-profit and government executive management working on social services issues confronting low-income families.
He is a past president and chief executive officer of the Lower Eastside Service Center providing supportive housing, mental health services, addiction treatment, primary health care, employment services and social ventures in NYC and Brooklyn. He served as director of the Narcotics Rehabilitation Center at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC and worked as a manager in NYC’s Human Resources Administration Center – the nation’s largest social service department serving 3 million city residents annually.
