NORWALK, Conn. – The SoNo Branch Library and ConnCAN (The Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now) are hosting a back-to-school celebration Saturday, Aug. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The program begins with Al deCant’s "Rockin' and Reading with Pete the Cat" performance for children of all ages, followed by lunch and the summer reading certificate ceremony for children who successfully completed the summer reading program. Mayor Harry Rilling and State Representative Bruce Morris will hand out certificates.
Children in pre-K through fifth grades are invited to complete superhero missions at 1 p.m. The missions include a superhero obstacle course and a final mission that involves the children’s library cards.
Kids will enjoy face painting outside while adults can enjoy contemporary jazz from Norwalk’s own Stephen Walton featuring Groovement outside from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
