The flames broke out around 5:50 a.m. near Exit 14 South on I-95, Norwalk firefighters said.

Firefighters believe the blaze started in the truck’s brakes. The driver couldn't use their fire extinguisher to put it out, which allowed the flames to creep onto the vehicles on the trailer, officials said.

Four of the six vehicles on the carrier were destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

The fire caused major delays for morning commuters as well. Police blocked off multiple lanes of southbound traffic as crews cleared the scene.

Norwalk firefighters used specialized equipment to remove the burned-out truck and damaged vehicles from the highway, officials said.
