“A lot of the stores have sales, and we had the money,” said Victor Colorado, who visited the mall with his brother, Louis.
“We like the sales, and it is sort of a tradition,” Michael Lo said as he shopped the mall with his sister, Cayan.
“It’s just the spirit,” Iliana Nikolova said. “It’s fun.” Nikolova’s daughter Katrin added that they also enjoy the sales and wanted to look holiday gifts.
Meredith Keeler, general manager of the Stamford Town Center, said Black Friday is one of her favorite days because of the mall is very busy and because it marks the start of the holiday season. There are sales at stores and expanded holiday hours at the mall, she said.
Daniel Mejia not only got an early start to his holiday shopping, but an early finish as well. By Friday morning he had bought all of his gifts. “You got to be prepared,” he said, adding that all he has to do now is wrap them.
Walter Martinez was getting a few early presents for himself. “I just wanted to spoil myself a little,” he said, adding that he'll come back to the mall later for gifts for others.
Mother and daughter Helen and Sara Sturzinger of Greenwich didn’t come to the mall to shop, but in hopes of winning a $100 American Express gift card from WEBE 108, as Sara did last year. However, while there they did get some of their shopping out of the way.
“We already put the bags in the car,” Helen said, adding that they were “quite successful.” The radio station was giving out gift cards as it broadcast live from the mall.
