Bethel School District Appoints New Director Of Instructional Technology

BETHEL, Conn. -- Bethel Public Schools has appointed Michael Vose as its new director of instructional technology.

Vose was appointed to the position left vacant by Daniel DeBlois who recently retired after 50 years with the Bethel Public Schools. 

Vose has extensive experience and expertise in integration of technology into teaching and learning, including: blended and digital learning, learning management systems, 1:1 device implementation, establishing a 21st learning environment, competency based learning and standards aligned assessments (including data systems). 

A seasoned administrator from the Killingly Public Schools, Vose recently received his doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Connecticut. 

His dissertation focus was on teacher roles and human capital needs in secondary personalized blended learning models. He received a sixth year degree in educational leadership at Sacred Heart University in 2003, a master of education in human relations at Eastern Connecticut State University with a focus on behavioral therapies in 1987 and a bachelor's in education from Central Connecticut State University. 

He has served as an adjunct professor at St. Joseph’s College, Eastern Connecticut State University and Manchester Community College in technology integration. For Killingly Public Schools, Vose has served as an assistant principal and data team leader focusing on instructional design. 

In 2005, Vose was awarded the Connecticut Education Association Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence. He received the Outstanding Administrative Practicum Award from Sacred Heart University in 2003. In 2002, he received the Connecticut Celebration of Excellence Award for innovated curriculum projects.
