Bethel High Bids Adieu To Class Of 2016 At Graduation Ceremony

BETHEL, Conn. — Bethel High School bid farewell to the 250 members of the Class of 2016 at a graduation ceremony Friday at the O'Neill Center on the Westside campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

The Class of 2016 valedictorian is Kendall Meenan, and the salutatorian is Victoria Palmer. The class president is Amanda Nunes, vice president is Sara Rockmacher, and secretary is Erin Belcourt.

Principal Chris Troetti was the main speaker. Additionally, Michael Shanley, a classmate who died unexpectedly in May 2015, received an honorary degree.

Seven Bethel High School seniors in the Navy Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps also received college scholarships representing more than $1 million, with students receiving full tuition assistance to attend Yale University, Ohio State University and Boston University.

Bethel High School students also connected with younger students by marching in their caps and gowns during parades at local elementary schools.
