Police Locate Car In Crash That Killed Danbury Man

Police have located a car that hit and killed a Connecticut man and then fled the scene.

The crash took place in Litchfield County around 5:11 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, in New Milford.

Fairfield County resident Galo Rafael Guaman-Sarmiento, age 61, of Danbury, was crossing Danbury Road when he was struck by a 2013-2016 black Ford Fusion, said the New Milford Police.

The driver, who has not been found, fled the scene, and Guaman-Sarmiento was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police have been searching for the Fusion since the crash and located it on Saturday, Nov. 12, police said.

New Milford Police did not say if they have identified who the driver is.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Guaman-Sarmiento who immigrated from Ecuador more than 20 years ago, to help return him to his family.

So far, more than $7,000 of a $30,000 goal has been raised. 

"We would like to thank everyone who provided information related to this tragic incident," said the New Milford Police.
