WESTPORT, Conn. — A consultant stole confidential IT documents from Bridgewater Associates, the massive Westport-based hedge fund, Westport Police said.
Sankaranarayan Subramanian, 33, of 630 Mix Ave., Hamden, was arrested at his home without incident by Westport detectives March 23.
Subramanian, who worked as a consultant at Bridgewater, had emailed himself on numerous occasions several of the firm's confidential IT documents, police said. He sent the emails from his Bridgewater account to his personal email account without permission, police said.
He's also alleged to have made printed and emailed copies of data in the hedge fund's computer system as well, police said.
Westport Police began an investigation in November into the thefts.
Westport-based Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund, was founded by billionaire and Greenwich resident Ray Dalio.
Subramanian was charged with first-degree e-crime, theft of computer services.
He posted $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 4.
