Frederick County Family Displaced After Early Morning House Fire

Dozens of firefighters were on hand to help knock down an early morning fire that unexpectedly broke out in a Frederick County home and rapidly spread, displacing a family.

A house fire was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 in the 4200 block of Ed McClain Road in Monrovia inside a single-family home, according to officials.

Upon arrival, firefighters said that they located a fire showing from the back porch which worked its way up to the roof and attic space.

Officials said that it took a crew of 50 firefighters approximately 45 minutes to get the fire under control and extinguish any flare-ups or hotspots at the scene.

No injuries were reported, but a family of four adults, two children, and two pets were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
