James Dolyle, age 56, of Westport, was charged on Friday, Jan. 20, following an investigation by Westport Police that he had allegedly stolen the neighbor's cat.
The neighbor told officers that Doyle has been trying to “lure” her cat into his residence for some time now and she has repeatedly told him to leave her cat alone, said Lt. Eric Woods, of the Westport Police.
Doyle was seen by neighbors trying to lure the cat into his residence and alerted the neighbor. The neighbor again expressed her wishes that Doyle leave her cat alone when he picked up the cat, displayed his middle finger, and took the cat inside his residence, Woods said.
Westport Police were called and found Doyle sitting on his front porch where he admitted to taking the cat but had since released it, Woods said.
Doyle was charged with breach of peace and released on a $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
