NEWTOWN, Conn. -- After complaints from open space advocates and community members about placing a memorial on High Meadow to honor the 26 people killed in the Sandy Hook massacre, the memorial planning commission has agreed to consider other options, according to WLAD.com.
The site, the highest point in town, was originally selected for its beautiful views. Commission Chairman Kyle Lyddy said that the 12-member commission went into the project knowing it would be hard to please everyone. The commission is looking for a serene, out-of-the-way site, said WLAD.com.
The commission is currently working with the town to find another site, added WLAD.com
