Eversource Repairs Power Outages In Newtown After Torrential Rain

Only a handful of outages remained as of 10 p.m., except in Bridgeport, with 10 outages; Easton, with 28 outages; and Shelton, with 259 outages.

10 p.m. update: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Nearly all the power outages in Fairfield County have been restored as of 10 p.m. Thursday. 

8 p.m. update: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — After a line of strong thunderstorms with heavy rain moved across Fairfield County late Thursday afternoon, a large number of power outages were reported. 

As of 6:45 p.m., the following outages were reported by Eversource and United Illuminating:

  • Bridgeport: 141 outages,down from 205 outages 
  • Easton: 51 outages
  • Greenwich: 181 outages
  • Newtown: 39 outages, down from 473 
  • Redding: 136 outages
  • Shelton: 183 outages, down from 955
  • Sherman: 5 outages
  • Stratford: 35 outages, down from 128
  • Trumbull: 26 outages
  • Weston: 58
Outages reported in Danbury, Norwalk, Monroe and New Canaan have been repaired.
