The Connecticut State Medical Examining Board has fined Judith Major, of Shelton, $7,500 and placed her on six months probation for changing a patient’s chart, leading to a complaint to the Department of Health.
According to reports, while certifying a retired police officer for a medical marijuana prescription, Major listed an incorrect diagnosis of a spinal cord injury, not the proper diagnosis of a post-traumatic stress disorder. She later altered the records to include the correct diagnosis after her mistake was unearthed.
Investigators were unable to determine if the errors were deliberate. As part of her punishment, Major must also register for a course in medical documentation, and a second doctor will be hired to review her medical marijuana certifications. Major accepted her punishment and opted not to fight the claims against her.
