Bethel Proposes $27.6M Municipal, $43.6M School Budgets

BETHEL, Conn. -- A proposed budget was rolled out in Bethel during Tuesday's town meeting, reported WLAD-AM.

The municipal side proposal is about $27.6 million, inclusive of debt service of approximately $3.9 million, said the WLAD-AM report.

The account to maintain the schools account is $489,000, included in the municipal budget, according to WLAD-AM.

Bethel First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker told WLAD-AM that approximately $43.6 million is the Board of Education budget proposal, the WLAD-AM report said.

Capital projects of about $1.4 million would cover the following, according to WLAD-AM:

  • Codfish Road culvert
  • Maple Avenue drainage improvements
  • Lighting for repairs on Whittlesey Drive and Greenwood Avenue,
  • High school auditorium seating
  • Highway garage roof
  • Carbon monoxide system
