Cavagna’s promotion fills the vacancy left by the recent departure of Steven Palmer, the town’s former planner. Cavagna has been employed by the town for 16 years and brings experience to her new position. Most recently, she served as the Town’s Inland and Wetlands officer, Aquifer Protection Agent, and supervised the activities of the town’s Zoning Officer.
She has been a contributor and leader in land use projects, including Bethel Forward, the town’s Transit Oriented Development plan, the 2007 Plan of Conservation and Development and the 2007 Route 6 Corridor Plan.
In 2014, Beth received the Northwest Conservation District’s Member of the Year Award. Prior to joining the land use department’s staff, Cavagna served town government for over a decade as a volunteer member of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
She is a member of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Planning Association and of the Connecticut Association of Wetlands. Cavagna and her husband Chuck reside in Bethel.
