"Be Kind" is pretty simple, but that's the message the Ben's Bells Project is hoping to spread throughout the area when the new shop opens Oct. 23 at 32 Stony Hill Road.
Started by Jeannette Maré as therapy following the death of her son in 2001, Ben's Bells have become a symbol of hope and kindness following many of the countries tragedies, including in 2012 when the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School took place in Newtown.
Following the event, members of the community contacted Maré and she and six board members and Ben's Bells employees flew to the Newtown to help start a "kindness" program in Connecticut, where they now make 200 to 300 bells per month.
The organization is about much more than bells. It's about teaching kindness and understanding to people across the country. The mission of Ben’s Bells is to inspire individuals and communities to engage in kindness education and practice. And it's about residents having a place to come together, make friends, and make a Ben's Bells.
