9/11 Families Demanding Justice After Revelation Of Saudi Ties To Terror

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and families of 9/11 victims will demand justice for victims of terrorism on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. on the steps of the U.S. District Court in New Haven, after new revelations expose Saudi Arabian ties to the 9/11 terror attacks.

Blumenthal helped to lead the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act to allow victims of terrorism and their families to sue foreign actors like Saudi Arabia that sponsor or support violent extremism. Blumenthal and the 9/11 families will call on the House to pass the measure to provide justice and compensation for victims and their families. The measure passed in the Senate in May.

“These new revelations were a chilling indictment of Saudi Arabia’s ties to violent extremism – payments to terrorists and obstruction of U.S. anti-terrorism investigations that raise serious concerns about the Saudi role in the 9/11 attacks,” said Blumenthal. “The Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act that I helped lead to passage in the Senate would empower victims to seek justice against foreign actors like Saudi Arabia who support terrorism – discouraging these foreign enablers and providing simple, humanitarian justice to victims and their families. I call on the House to take up and pass this important legislation.”

Also in attendance will be New Canaan residents Mary and Frank Fetchet of Voices of September 11th, parents of 9/11 victim Brad Fetchet; Kyle and Brett Eagleson, of Middletown, sons of 9/11 victim Bruce Eagleson; Terry Strada, national chair of 9-11 Families and Survivors United for Justice Against Terrorism, coordinator of passjasta.org and wife of 9/11 victim Thomas Strada.

U.S. District Court is located at 141 Church St., New Haven.
