NEWTOWN, Conn. -- The C.H. Booth Library in Newtown is ofering a program called "You Wrote a Book: Now What?" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3 in the meeting room. 

The class is for those who have written something they would like to see published, but don’t know where to start. Gain an insider’s view of book publishing at this program with Jan Kardys. 

Kardys has 40 years’ publishing experience working for 10 New York City publishing corporations and also is the creator of Black Hawk Literary Agency and Unicorn for Writers. 

She will share information on such topics as: 

  • Developing a concept
  • Writing a manuscript
  • Correct formatting
  • Editing
  • Finding a literary agent
  • Negotiating a publishing agreement 
  • The various departments within a publishing company
  • Self publishing vs. traditional book publishing 
  • Subsidiary rights
  • Marketing
  • Utilizing the most cutting-edge technologies and social media services to increase visibility to literary agents, publishers and readers alike.
