"When it comes to Valentine's Day, the first thing people think of and ask for is roses," said Judy Grabarz, owner of the shop.
"But young people want something else, something new."
Grabarz said she often uses the color palette associated with Valentine's Day to make bouquets of mixed flowers — but she still includes the roses.
"We use lots of red, with pink, white and purple," said Grabarz. "It's always a new challenge!"
What's the busiest holiday for her shop?
"It varies — Valentine's Day some years, others it's Mother's Day," said Grabarz, who has owned her shop for 13 years and has been in her current location for seven years.
Valentine’s Day is big business from local stores to national retailers. Americans spent nearly $19 billion last year for Valentine’s Day and could spend close to $20 billion this year, according to fatwallet.com.
During the season, 250 million roses are produced. Many consumers opt for the red roses, which account for 40 percent of purchases, according to the site.
Men typically outspend women two to one on holiday-related purchases. And don’t forget the four-legged members of your family: About 1 in 5 Americans will buy gifts for their pets.
