FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Light rain will fall Tuesday and Wednesday across Fairfield County, but that is the least of our weather problems, according to the National Weather Service.
Two rounds of snow could hit the area late this week as temperatures plunge back below freezing as the roller coaster of bitter cold and spring-like warmth persists, the weather service said.
The light rain will continue through Wednesday, as high temperatures soar into the mid-50s across Fairfield County. The chance of rain is 80 percent, but it will not add up to much precipitation across the drought-ridden region.
Thursday will be sunny, with a high in the mid-40s, with wind gusts as high as 28 mph.
Then temperatures will plunge into the mid-20s Thursday night, with a 30 percent chance of snow after 2 a.m.
There is a 30 percent chance of snow Frida, mostly before 2 p.m., with mostly cloudy skies and a high in the mid-30s.
It will be icy late Friday with overnight lows in the teens. It will be sunny but cold Saturday with a high only in the mid-20s.
On Saturday night, there is 30 percent chance of snow after 2 a.m. as low temperatures drop again into the mid-teens.
A 30 percent chance of snow continues Sunday, with a high near 28.
