After a decidedly un-January-like stretch of calm weather since the start of the new year, there's the potential for at least three winter storms in the final weeks of the month.

The first such storm could a significant one,  with current path projections predicting its arrival in the tristate area from the central Plains this coming weekend.

There's still uncertainty surrounding the strength and track of the storm, but one thing is not, according to AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok.

"Business, schools and travel will all be impacted from this storm," Pastelok said.

The workweek will start off with morning clouds giving way to mostly sunny skies on Monday, Jan. 14 with a high temperature in the low-30s and a wind-chill factor between 10 and 20.

Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Wednesday, Jan. 16 will be again mostly sunny with a high in the mid-30s.

Thursday, Jan. 17 will be sunny but colder, with a high of only around 30 degrees.

The snow chance starts in the morning on Friday, Jan. 18 with any precipitation turning to rain as the high temperature climbs to the upper-30s.

There is a chance of snow during the day on Saturday, Jan. 19 on a cloudy day with the high reaching the mid-30s.

The likely arrival time for the storm now looks like Saturday night, with snowfall continuing into Sunday, Jan. 20.

"There will be no rest for the weary with another storm approaching the East between (Tuesday) Jan. 22 and (Wednesday) Jan.23, which pulls some cold air into the region," according to Pastelok.

There could be yet another storm for the end of next week, too, Pastelok said.
