North Castle Fall Rec Registration Starts Aug. 24 NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. – The North Castle Parks and Recreation Department announced that registration for fall programs will begin Monday, Aug. 24, at 9 a.m. The department has both in-person and online registration options available. In-person registration can be done at the North Castle Parks and Recreation office at 40 Maple Ave., Armonk. Online options are available at the North Castle Parks and Recreation website. New Rochelle Native Named Captain Of USS Constitution NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle native and 1991 Iona Prep graduate Robert Gerosa Jr. was named the new captain of the USS Constitution, Boston's WCVB 5 reported. Gerosa assumed command Friday, replacing Sean Kearns. The Constitution is the world's oldest active warship, and is in the process of a multiple-year restoration project, according to WCVB 5. Gerosa previously served in Kosovo, and was part of relief efforts in New York and Washington D.C. after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, as well as in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, according to WCVB 5. Aaron Spring, running as a Republican, has been taken off the ticket due to the allegations, the story said. The accusation stems from Spring allegedly collecting campaign signatures when he was 17, the News 12 story said.. Appeals Court Upholds Dismissal Of Edgemont's Lauren Spierer Family Suit EDGEMONT, N.Y. – An appeals court upheld an earlier decision to toss a lawsuit filed by the family of Edgemont native Lauren Spierer, WRTV-6 in Indianapolis reported. Spierer disappeared four years ago while attending Indiana University. The lawsuit alleged the last three people to see Spierer alive caused an injury related to her disappearance, according to WRTV-6.
